on a roll

Oh My GOSH!

I am feeling so very lucky this week. Well, I’m lucky every day of my life to be healthy and living the life that God has given me…but recently, I feel especially lucky as in ‘I win stuff’ lucky!

First, I won a package of Nikki Silvis stuff from Write.Click.Scrapbook. I haven’t played with her stuff yet, so I’m eagerly waiting for it to arrive!

Then today I see that I won a Polar Activity Monitor from Kara at Mama Sweat! Yay me! I’ve been eyeing different activity monitors lately so I’m so very eager to strap this one on and get a more accurate gauge of my daily activity.

And throw in a little Kit of the Week surprise from Green Tangerines and I’m walking on air! When I design layouts for the store they are used however Kelly and the Creative Crew needs them. This time around they used it as the KOW. I love those kinds of surprises! You can click the link to see the details…here’s the layout that the kit is based on.

I’ll be sure to share my thoughts on my winnings above…can’t wait to try them out!

Have a great weekend…looking forward to my 7 miler (although it may end up on the treadmill…boo) and a ski date with my man (4+ feet in Tahoe, baby…skiing some freshies!)

March Layout #1

freshlayoutfullres

Isn’t that “Plant This” paper so cute? It’s from Anthropologie and included in the March kit. I popped in there the other day and saw some other cute ones…anyone want to share a pad of random paper? :)

How fun is that?

a fall favorite...

Fall is my favorite.

Born and raised in Southern Cal...the seasons didn't really mean much to me. Pretty much it's summer all year round. Yes, that's an exaggeration...but it's nearly true. Don't get me wrong. I'll always be a SoCal girl.

But 5 years ago, my mind was awakened to the fact that seasons actually exist!

And Fall. It's my favorite.

I love the break from the heat of summer (especially NorCal summers!). I love the change in the leaves. I love that it's cool enough for jeans, but still warm enough to wear open toed shoes. Yep, I love fall.

Another reason I love fall is our annual trip to Bishop's Pumpkin Farm. Living down south, we tried so hard to find a place where we could pick our own pumpkins. Not easy to find...but now that we live up here...we have Bishop's.

We were shocked the first year that we were actually pulling the pumpkins off the vine! Beyond that there are so many things to do there. My boys love the train and the super long slide!

Now, we'll never go anywhere else. It's our annual trip...and it's this weekend!

We always try to go the first weekend of October. Less crowds and it hasn't rained much yet (none yet this year) so the fields aren't super muddy. This year my parents will join us again and we get to share this great place with my brother in law and his family! Yay!

This is a layout I did for Green Tangerines a while back. It even was turned into a cute kit of the week.
If I remember correctly, these are Scenic Route circle stickers that I put brads through.

And two felt favorites...American Crafs thickers and felt ric rac. Yummy. (Paper is Scenic Route as well...)

Hope you have a fun fall weekend planned. The weather finally changed and I'm so excited! That and the fact that football season is in full swing makes me a happy girl! Fight On Trojans!

Happiest Place on Earth

We love Disneyland, don’t you?

mickeymouse

I grew up about 20 minutes from there and I don’t think I appreciated how close that actually is until (1) I had kids and was living 45 minutes away and (2) we moved to Northern Cal! My parents still lived close by and up until 2 years ago we went several times a year. You see, my mom works for Disney and we got in free! So free entrance + fee place to stay = very reasonable trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Two years ago, that all changed. My parents moved up here. Great for the every day grandparenting thing…and don’t get me wrong, we love having them 15 minutes away. But the free place to stay is now gone. My mom still works for Disney (telecommuting…isn’t technology a great thing?!) but she’s not there to meet us at the gate when we want to get in.

Translation…it put a big crimp in our Disney style. :)

Last summer we were able to pull it off for a reasonable price (thanks to Mom and Dad’s pack rat ways…they had some free passes stashed away) and so we tacked on to our annual Worden Family trip with my brother-in-law and his family. So fun!

Needless to say, with lots of trips to Disneyland comes lots of Disney layouts. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of the overtly Disney papers and embellishments out there. I guess with so many pictures from so many trips, it all starts to look the same to me. So I tend to scrap my Disney trips like any other event…looking for colors that pop out at me and getting papers and embellies that go with that.

This layout is using the fun stuff found in Green Tangerine’s January Kit. I’m pretty sure they still have this kit in stock…it’s probably my favorite so far…so call and get yours!

They actually used this layout as a basis for one of their kit of the week’s too…they changed up the papers to give them more of a traditional Disney feel, but the bones of the layout are the same! Call and see if they still have it!

Brotherly Love

So having three boys is really cool in a lot of ways...but watching my boys love on each other is one of the best!

I designed this layout for Green Tangerines and Raimi ended up using it as inspriation for kit of the week! How fun!

Click on the link for detailed pictures...scroll down to the 're-freshed' portion of the blog.

My favorite part of this layout is the card stock. It's Coredinations cardstock which is this really cool white-cored cardstock that you can sand to distress it. I sanded inside of the cut out stars on that Making Memories paper so that the stars would stand out.

Not sure if this kit is still available...it was a while ago.

Thanks for stopping by...

First Year in Review...

For the February kit I designed a fun year in review for Sam's book...highlighting everything he was doing now that he had turned one.

Well, this past week, Green Tangerines used it as their kit of the week! That means you get everything you need to make this layout...plus a color scan of the layout to work from. How fun! You can call the store directly or stop by to pick your very own up.

My favorite parts of this layout were all the journaling strips highlighting his new words and talents...and then his handprint. I'll have to share with you my handprint wall (a la Becky Higgins if you follow her blog) sometime. But I'll just say that when I'm doing the handprint I always do an extra on paper to use on a layout later. I actually scanned this one in and printed it out in black because it went so much better with the layout colors than the original paint I used.

p.s. You can see much better pictures of this layout and detail bit at the flkr account.
